Who is involved in the Cateura School of Music and Life?

The new Cateura School of Music and Life is a collborative social initiative between the Saint Pio Foundation, Transformación Paraguay and the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura. The center will be a place where the orchestra can teach music to the more than 300 kids that are currently involved in their music program. The school will also be a place where the Saint Pio Foundation will be able to provide the social assistance that they currently provide in the area. Such as providing free medicine for those in need, free dental and medical checkups, weekly soup kitchen and after school programs for the kids and families of the community.

The Recycled Orchestra of Cateura

The Recycled Orchestra of Cateura is an orchestra and school of music for the kids in the Cateura community (a community built on the landfill for the city of Asuncion). The music programs that they provide help keep the kids off of the streets and out of gang trouble. It also teaches them how to be responsible and to learn certain life skills that they may otherwise not learn at home or in school. To learn more about the orchestra watch this 60 Minutes report from 2014.
